Sadler's Sponsor Higgs' Peaky Climbers

Sadler's has sponsored a group of Black Country legal professionals taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise much needed funds for Dudley Mind.

Sadler’s Brewery has announced its backing for the ‘The Peaky Climbers’, 10 colleagues from Black Country based law firm Higgs & Sons.

The Peaky Climbers will attempt to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon all within the space of 24 hours on July 6 and 7. They have set themselves a target of £3,500 for Higgs’ Charity of the Year, Dudley Mind.

The brewery which has a long tradition in the region, produces Peaky Blinder Ale and has its own Peaky Blinders themed Speakeasy room available for hire at its Brewhouse & Bar in Lye.

Talking about the sponsorship, Jim Pycraft, Operations Director at Sadler’s commented:

“When we found out about Higgs ‘Peaky Climbers’ challenge, we thought it was not only a fantastic way to raise funds for their chosen charity, but a great fit for us here at Sadler’s, with our range of Peaky Blinder ales and the opening of our Speakeasy room in Lye this year. We were delighted to be able to help.”

The Sadler’s sponsorship is the culmination of a busy period for the climbers, as not only will they be undertaking their final training walk across the Malvern Hills this weekend, but they recently held a ‘challenge the Peaky Climbers’ stepper event at Higgs Waterfront head office, with equipment provided by Pure Gym in Brierley Hill.

The challenge saw colleagues go head to head with the Peaky Climbers on a step machine. The Climbers eventually triumphed, however a member of the ‘rival’ team climbed the highest number of floors 167 – four higher than that of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Mark Evans from Dudley Mind said: “Thank you so much to Higgs & Sons for choosing us as its charity of the year, we are so grateful. We have seen some of the extraordinary events the firm has been involved in over the years to raise money for other good causes, and we are incredibly grateful – and humbled.”

Katie Willems from Higgs added: “If anyone is able to donate to help us reach our fundraising goal for a fantastic cause, please spare two minutes by visiting our Local Giving page at, on behalf of the whole team, thank you very much in anticipation of your generosity and support.”

Dudley Mind is a local mental health charity that aims to improve and promote recovery and wellbeing for people in the Dudley borough affected by poor mental health.
